First pregnancies in jennies with vitrified donkey semen using a new warming method

چکیده

Sperm vitrification has been recently developed, but fertility trials have not performed yet in equine species. In this study, a new warming technique for vitrified donkey semen was developed and the uterine inflammatory response were compared to conventional freezing. Experiment 1, sperm straws warmed 3 ml of extender or water bath at: 37 °C/30 s; 43 °C/10 60 °C/5 s. motility, plasma acrosome membranes DNA integrity between treatments. 2, jennies inseminated twice (500 × 106 sperm) body either with frozen (2 cycles/jenny). Pregnancy rates (polymorphonuclear neutrophil concentration; PMN) evaluated after artificial insemination (AI). No differences extender/water found s better than lower temperatures terms total (53.8 ± 13.2%) progressive motility (41.4 11.4%). PMN concentration (× 103 PMN/ml) (276.8 171.6) (309.7 250.7) AI. However, decreased faster (P < 0.05) using semen. greater (22%) (10%) statistically different. conclusion, could be directly at s, reducing obtained AI promoting positive pregnancy outcomes. These findings confirm possibility use as an alternative jennies.

Differences in ability of jennies and mares to conceive with cooled and frozen semen containing glycerol or not.

A suitable method for the cryopreservation of donkey semen would be very valuable for the ex situ management of genetic diversity in this species. This report uses a variety of observation and trials to evaluate the effect of cryoprotectants in per-cycle pregnancy rates (PC) in equids females (jennies (donkey) and mares (horse)). This was explored by (1) comparing the results of insemination of...

Sperm motility patterns and metabolism in Catalonian donkey semen.

The Sperm-Class Analyzer detected four subpopulations of spermatozoa with different motility characteristics in the ejaculate of the Catalonian donkey. Significant differences (P < 0.001) in the distribution of these subpopulations, as well as in total sperm number and percentage total motility, were seen in the diluted semen of four sampled donkeys. All the ejaculates evaluated showed excellen...

Effect of ketoprofen treatment on the uterine inflammatory response after AI of jennies with frozen semen.

Artificial insemination (AI) involving the placing of frozen-thawed semen directly into the jenny uterine body is associated with very low pregnancy rates. This might be because of an exacerbation of the acute response of the endometrium to sperm, as seen in mares with persistent induced mating endometritis. Pregnancy rates can be increased in such mares, however, by including anti-inflammatory...
